First of all, let me express my complete and utter shame for avoiding everyone for the past... however long I was gone. I tend to get really antisocial on the internet when I'm working on gargantuan projects like this one.
Second: Let's actually talk about what you're looking at here.
You might want to go full view/ download on this one, since most of the details are above the waist.
When you think about it, GLaDOS like a doll in a music box, in that she is rooted in one place but is able to spin.
I wanted to design something that allows GLaDOS to maintain the drama in her movements, while maintaining the uniqueness lent by restriction. In this design, she can bob, weave, dance (when no one is watching) or do any sort of movement that does not require her to leave the "stage". The stage itself is actually made up of the rings that hung above her in the game (notice the upside down name c: ).
Since I'm still an ignorant ass who loves object heads just because they look so silly, that's what I used here. a Portal 1 GLaDOS object head in a Portal 2 GLaDOS robot suit. It was frustrating but fun figuring out how to place the one head inside the other. The cloths she's wearing inside the robo-suit are based on a priest's garments, since I'm still going with my western theme.
She is able to leave the stage for a limited amount of time, however, before she has to recharge the suit again (her "dress" here is made of wires). When she leaves the "dress" and the "stage" the lower "torso" of game GLaDOS becomes this GLaDOS' legs.
You may notice a hint of Ripley's power loader (from "Aliens") in the design. c: Watching the trailer to "A Monster in Paris" was an inspiration, as well.

Since college started up again for me and I have a maddening amount of work to do, consider this a sort of "farewell gift" from my gallery until I have time away from homework, etc. This could be a very long time.
Also: bladibladibla Portal and GLaDOS are not mine, but the design for this GLaDOS is mine.

I used a heck of a lot of quotation marks just now.

This is absolutely awesome :wow: Just..the whole idea, the costume....the colors...and this whole stage-like thing. Almost like something from a theatre, I'd say. If Portal were a play, GLaDOS would be depicted like this perfectly.
I also love the arm-design. It's very mysterious and convincing. Very nice!

Sorry it took me a while to reply, and thank you so much! Since this took some time, and these aspects are exactly what I was trying to convey, your response makes me positively beam! 0u0 thank you!

Related: the song "Music Box Dancer" by Frank Mills.
Here are the lyrics: [link]
But some highlights (emphasis mine):

The room fills with music, such a cute song,
Watching her go 'round and 'round, {{she's where she belongs;}}
Bring joy to the watchers, spreading a glow,
{{Whenever wound up, she'll put on a good show.}}

Thank you so much for the link to those beautiful lyrics. They, and your emphasis especially, go perfectly with what I had in mind. It even sounds like there is a hint of Chell in there, as well:
"Slender lines, agile legs, a wonderland face.
Her beauty is balanced, an immovable pose,
Eternally destined to remain on her toes "

One of the themes of that song is women being "put in their place." no one exemplifies that more than GLaDOS, the bound woman, who can do nothing more than writhe and seethe and deride others, as long as her morality's intact.

Chell's kind of the same way. More mobility, but the same kind of imprisonment. The ironic thing is that she's being imprisoned by the prisoner. If you put that in a Portal 2 setting, it's at least twice as tragic...
